Living History

Living History is a way of passing down our cultural and historical heritage and relating it to the current generations. The idea behind it is to use material objects, sometimes authentic pieces and sometimes replicas, that are representative of the past to help show what it was like during that time period.

Living History uses costumed interpreters to help fill the void left by time. These interpreters help to transport the visitor back in time by showing how objects were really used. The idea is to "re-create" the past through the use of demonstration, participation, and animation.

Further resources about living history can be found at Plimoth Plantation's Library and at ALHFAM (Association of Living History Farms and Museums).
